About Us

The Food Files opened to Western Australians in 2015 with the mission of spreading our love of incredible food mixed with the finest ingredients to people who enjoyed quality hand made meat products. Shane our artisan butcher who creates all the products entirely by hand has been in the industry for nearly three decades, starting an apprenticeship in 1991.   Shane has always has a passion for outstanding food, gathering the largest collection of cook books and fine art butchering books that fuels his never ending pursuit for creating unique meat products.
A northern suburbs Padbury boy he finished year 12 high school to start his butchering apprenticeship in 1991 with his first boss Ian Jowett. Steven Douglass commonly known as ‘Pommy’ took him under his wing as his second boss where Shane soon became the number 1 apprentice. Later he was  introduced to the very progressive Italian butchering trade giving Shane a profound knowledge in the art of Italian meat processing, supermarket butchering and finally the art of making traditional South African boerewors which is now a large part of our sales. Whilst wooden chopping blocks, floor shavings and butchers paper are now a distant memory, the foundation teachings are still very much alive.
Stacy our accounts, marketing and everything else manager was raised in the Pilbara and Kimberley regions of Western Australia. An agricultural lecturer/teacher by trade she has diverse educational background: Teacher, Trainer and Assessor with a Diploma in Agriculture, Horsebreeding & Equestrian.
As lovers of life, travel, great food, wine and beer it only seemed natural that with the growth of the Chittering area and its close proximity to Perth that our skills and resources were put together to create the perfect team and landing pad for our business. With the onset of Covid we soon realised that businesses need to be diverse, produce quality local products, old fashion service whilst maintaining a low cost operation. So in late 2020 we decided to build a unique home based butcher shop on our property in Bindoon.
